  1. One scary thought is when big tech companies read Shoshana Zuboff’s surveillance capitalism, they didn’t until then realise that this is what they were doing. Engineers just implemented models and collected data knowing it helps them corner the market, but simply didn’t reflect on the long term effects of their data collection policies. On the other hand, if they knew this all along, that just makes them, well, evil.
