ELBOW ROOM

This is where I collect and write things, mostly on academe and artificial intelligence. Established in 2010, by Vaishak Belle.

  1. I’ve eagerly been awaiting the release of the Freeform app from apple. My tool of choice for annotating and commenting on documents has been Microsoft’s OneNote. The latter has an infinite canvas, so you can stretch and pull your notes everywhere, add audio input, and mix text and handwritten notes, which is great if you have an Apple Pencil.

I hoped Freeform might be a replacement but it isn’t quite that but it’s nicely engineered. What it is is a Miro like tool, allowing for lumping together documents of all sorts, post it notes and other objects in a finite but tangible canvas. A brainstorming app. I’ve tried some of those before but never stuck to it, but given that apple notes has been my default for any kind of writing (other than journaling for which I use Dayone), I suspect I’ll start using it too once I’m back at my desk. I’m looking forward to benefiting from this beaut.
